This Tuesday Nov. 25th - Tofu the Pug + Spatial Correlation

Tofu the Pug is comprised of members Olivia Zielinski (keyboards,
electronics) and T.J Habibi (guitar, keyboards, electronics). The
duo will be using a variety of textures beats and sound fx panned
out on a moody ambient backdrop. They have captured various
outdoor recordings from nature and urban life & in turn manipulated
them for their live performance. In addition to their collaborative efforts
each have solo projects. T.J. fronts a modern rock band called Krome
www.krome.tv while Olivia Zieinski has her trip-hop/experimental
solo project at www.delicatedust.com.

In the 2nd set, Spatial Correlation, formerly the Widening Gyre,
revisits the Ping to mark the release of his latest disc "Outlier"
which is available from rik at the *pings things* table. "Outlier"
draws from influences as varied as OMD, Boards of Canada and
Slowdive. The beats are fragmented, the melodies understated
with a distinctively 80s sound. The theme with "Outlier", as with
previous releases, is one of milltown isolation: existence on the
periphery of the market economy.

rik maclean's *ping things* CD Reviews

"Touched" by Nadja

Heavy. Hard. Dark. All of these words aptly describe "Touched"
by Nadja, a new project by Aidan Baker. Relying on a much more
aggressive tone than his other works, on this disc Aidan creates
a beautiful wall of sound that surrounds and engulfs the listener.

Opening track "Mutagen" is filled with the sounds of rolling thunder
and violin. "Stays Demons" features a looping, growing feedback-
drenched guitar line playing accompaniment to a chorus of the
damned. Final song "Flowers of Flesh" builds from a keening
wail of guitar and angry percussion until it becomes a blazing
inferno of feedback, beautiful as it burns.

An impressive debut from a new project, "Touched" retains
Aidan's sense of space, his sense of environment and presents
them in a new manner sure to appeal to fans of the darker
and more noise driven ambient forms.
