This Wed. April 27th - A Pretty Sonic Splatter and dreamSTATE
                            with General Chaos Visuals

A Pretty Sonic Splatter is the sound works of Phil Ogison
(The Devil In The Design) and Anne Sulikowski (Building Castles
Out Of Matchsticks). They perform live together in the
Psychosomatic Climax Machine and since they live 50 km apart,
they get their music done by remixing each other's material
over MSN - bouncing tracks from one over to the other with a new
layer added each time. Songs end up all over the place covering
different sounds and forgotten territories with various music
genres slipping into another and then slipping back again. Melting.
Lingering. Pounding. No boundaries, just music. Phil and Anne
really enjoy working together and realize that it is fate that
they met. Their performance at the PiNG will cover new tracks
from their new album "It Is Fate That We Met" available from
worthy records' ever-growing catalogue for 5 dollars.

Electronic soundscape artists dreamSTATE (Scott M2 and Jamie Todd)
have planned a set evoking and invoking ghosts of the past, the
present and the future. Sound environments will be established
and then transformed. Colonies of beats and notes will be founded,
will grow, peak and then fall into decay, towers of sound erected
and collapsed, leaving fragmented memories and haunted dreams.

A third set brings both duos together for their first collective
improvisations. General Chaos will provide their beautiful and
hypnotic visuals for the evening. http://www.generalchaosvisuals.com

Between Sets CD - "True Stories" by vidnaObmana & Jeff Pearce
Belgian electronics artist vidnaObmana and American ambient

short stories, light and dark, during 1997 and 1998.

||: IN THE LOOP :|| by Luna Tek

A last-minute lineup change turned out to be a real boon for
THE AMBiENT PiNG audience on Wednesday, April 20, 2005.
Thomas Al-Hamed stepped in for Andrew Moon and made his debut
at the PiNG in the latest installment of The Planet of the Loops.
Thomas plays with the Trainwreck Collective, Joy Fusion,
Denormalize and guest performs with Escalate.

Performing on an Oud (Arabian Lute) and looper, Thomas improvised
with guitarist Andrew Aldridge to create two sets of lush atmospherics.
Enveloped in this exotic music, an image of the musicians casting
veils of sound into the room came to mind. The evening was a
special treat for fans of acoustic and electronic improvisation
with a Middle Eastern sensibility.

The next evening, Brian Eno presented a lecture at the Art Gallery
of Ontario. Eno's talk was part of the AGO's "Third Culture: Where
Art meets Science" series. Eno supported the sense of optimism
inherent in the exhibition by describing a number of environmental,
political and social initiatives underway around the world.
Suggesting that the "job of the artist is to imagine other worlds,"
Eno challenged his listeners to take an active role in creating
a new world order.

rik maclean's *ping things* CD Reviews

"Deep Blue" by Wally Jericho

After being out of print for the last two years, Wally Jericho's
release "Deep Blue" is now back in stock at ping things! Taken
from a show at THE AMBiENT PiNG in February of 2000, the disc
is steeped in processed trumpet and sparse bass guitar work which
are of course the sort of sounds that I've come to associate with
Wally. A sort of minimal space jazz sound reminiscent of late
Summer Sunday nights spent listening to alien radio stations
as you drive through the country, passing through towns without
names, a long stretch of highway your only friend. Dreamy, hypnotic,
wonderful. It's no wonder that everybody wants to play with him.
