RE: Warren want to trade?

Sure, I never disputed that certain high-end studio items retain value well
- and, in fact, the EDP appears to hold its value pretty darn well, too. I
just have a big junk heap of perfectly functional, perfectly worthless
rackmount gear. If you compose in a way that's *dependent* on the unique
features of a either a certain piece of gear or piece of established or
open-source software, though, my contention is simply that you're going be
more likely able to perform the software-dependent piece than the
hw-dependent piece in 10 or 15 years (if you're careful about backups,
etc.)

Best wishes,
Warren Sirota

Warren,
Warren,
About the 1176 I was just trying to make the point that if you think
computers hold there value or there effectiveness as much as vintage tube
gear would be willing to trade an Universal Audio 1176 for an old 486
laptop? Because I think that would be misguided.
Dominic
