Re: [sooperlooper-users] multiple instances of SL in Live: problems with volume levels

Valid points all. Im just sick and tired of "workarounds". Ive been an avid looper for 5 or 6 years. I've owned: Repeaters, Echoplex's,  Loop Stations, Jammen (?), Lives, now Sooperlooper. With every single one, there is always SOMETHING that is just wrong, and I have to bother perfectly nice people on some message board somewhere to find the ubiquitious "workaround".
Just frustration. Don't mind me.

  Quoth thee...

Its just weird that with any looper, hardware or software, there are limitations and shortcomings. Yet with preamps, filters and synths, or even more esoteric
devices, they seem to figure everything out.

Most people seem to also agree on essentially, what a preamp etc. should do, whereas with a looper, the *only* thing that most people seem to agree on is that it be able to loop in some fashion.  :)  -And the style / method / object etc. of the looping is still debated.

Two points really come to mind for me here; one is that since the loopers have such varied uses from simple looping, the feature sets need to be vast to please most artists, and as the artists are creative, they may find they would like a feature that hasn 't been thought of by the creator of the device...

The second point is that even with preamps and such, there are vast amounts of them on the market with all sorts of sound characteristics, so it could also be suggested that not every preamp manufacturer gets it right either, as not every sound profile may appeal to every musician's tastes?...  Yes?...

-Just my thoughts of course; thanks for the interesting post...

Smiles,

Cara  :)

Thats what I was asking about yesterday. It seems the way SL is setup, we're really quite limited as to how it runs in Live. I tried last night to set it up so an identical midi note command would arm a track and select a loop, but I couldn't get it to work. This got me wondering just how it is that with the literally thousands of plug ins available today, nobody has created a cross-platform, native looper with all the bells and whistles that works the way we need it to. I know Mobius is supposed to be that, but of course it only runs on windows. SL sorta works, but it doesn't work as a plug in should.
I need to open a looper plugin on 1 track and 1 track only, and have all the functionality of an EDP. It could even look like an EDP, maybe with a few GUI graphics ala SL.
I would pay good money for this, and judging by the sheer amount of people looping today, it would most likely make a profit.
