Re: ot.....mac question

Skoots,

You're not going to like this . . . you and I have the same problem. I
have an older iBook (a white 2001 vintage 500MHz PowerPC G3 that will
only run Mac OSX 10.3.9 and no later, AFAIK). We've been cheapskate old
farts and the rest of the world has moved on to faster machines and
newer ways of viewing content.

Our mutual problem is that we both need new computers. I keep getting
alerts that I cannot view certain flash content on a page because I do
not have the very latest Flash plug-in to do so. Unfortunately, I DO
have the latest Flash plug-in that will work with MY computer . . . and
I bet you do too. Technology changes fast. We move too slow my friend.

If it matters to you, it's time to break out the checkbook and go get a
new computer. I am contemplating the same thing. But damn if the latest
AFFORDABLE iBooks haven't dropped Firewire from the feature list. I
have all sorts of external Firewire peripherals. If I cheap-out on a
new machine I have to replace those peripherals too . . . not cheap.

But the MacBook Pro I want is going to set me back a bit even more if I
hold out for what I think I really need. Prices have been coming down
though (I think it's the recession). So I may find myself making a move
sooner here than I thought.

Time to think about it. When it comes to computers, we cant be like old
geezers driving a '67 Plymouth - milking it timidly down the highway
forever - trying to make it last. The internet has moved on. The world
has moved on. We need to catch up . . . LOL.

Best,

Tedzo
