Re: Help! EDP output makes hum louder than my loops

Thank you Philip for a solution! Do you have a recommendation for which DI box to buy or avoid?  I can't tell the difference from online window shopping, but something inexpensive would be great.

is it a blackface unit?

if so its all part of the rather unfortunate re design to get certification. I have one that does this and I hate it

the good thing is it is easily solved by buying a di box with a ground lify built in

but i still cant get over the backstep that has gone on.

i have two white units that work just fine as they are... i hate the fact that the newest unit and the one i paid the most for..is the one that causes me trouble and makes me go out and have to buy a di box which then takes up more space on my pedal board.

blah blah...

actually...if anyone want to do a swap a white echoplex for a black one ( cos IF YOU DO use the unit in the "correct" way it is atually quieter then the the original design...its just not how i use it.) contact me we an swap

Subject: Help! EDP output makes hum louder than my loops
From: jackthebassplayer@gmail.com
To: Loopers-Delight@loopers-delight.com

My Gibson EDP produces an insanely loud hum which I think is ground noise. (sounds like it)  I've narrowed it down to the output jack.  Even if my EDP is turned off, it will still make a really loud hum into my amp or computer.  Even if I mute my amp and turn all the gain down, the hum still comes through my amp at full volume. The input/output knobs don't alter the hum at all.  In fact nothing does, except turning my amp off or unplugging the EDP. The looping functions work fine and the looping material still comes out of the EDP, but it is a little softer than the ground noise sounding hum. Does anyone have ideas on how to fix this, or what precisely is making that hum?

Thanks for any insight,

Jack
