They are made by Mackie.
They bought the old "Tapco" name to use for
budget versions of their stuff, presumably as
a way of competing with Behringer without
dropping their regular prices.

oh, by the way, Rane (mixer manufacturers) say they don't know what a
"service sheet" is!
(and that all their docs are available on the website)
so either
a) they're just being humourous
b) the term is not known outside uk (anyone?)
Anyway, I managed to find the schematic for the SM82
under 'Manual' on their website
and the conclusion is:-
'They use the same cheap oop amps as the budget gear'.
All credit ot them for making Schematics (and layout)
easily available.

The guy at Alesis UK promised to mail me a service sheet
for the line8 right away when I phoned (but didn't).
He said they're supposed to have the tech support mails forwarded
to them, but he never saw one.
Probably he just didn't write down my email correctly, so
I'll try again.
