Re: New loop music, new techniques, download/stream

thanks to all who replied,

Matt,
Bandcamp's a bit scary, they're obviously there for big profit,
but their way of making money seems to be
"one day, we just charge you whatever we want to".
...but if you had good experience already.

I don't immediate plans for another cd, still assimilating
the new gear. Meantime
there's a couple
of new tracks here:

Stephen,
the first 2 demos that sound like they use a shuffle function
are actually just done by Replace.
In an 8 beat loop you're hearing the following pattern
R..R..R.
.R..R..R
..R..R..
so typically within a group of 3 you get 3 sections each a beat long,
one is delayed by 1 loop, the next by 2 loops and the last by
3 loops.

In the demos, I also Multiply the right hand EDP
(3 quick presses of Mult just on that machine) which produces
another similar pattern.

What adds to the impression of shuffle is that I'm
often holding notes/chords for one loop duration and
then changing to get that abcabcab sound.

The 3rd piece indeed uses the ebow to create a loop
on the stereo memory man, and the glissando is done
with varispeed. Don't think I used the moog filter
on that one though, although it's essential to the first 2 pieces.
If you're hearing filtering on the ebow sound, then it's just
the way I move the ebow around over the p/u.

Per
yes, that's the Hofner SG with wooden pickups and I was enjoying
the growly sounds. I followed your tactful suggestion that
a filter is "a useful tool for a guitarist" and now my fizzy distortion
tones are tamed by a moogerfooger MF-101 (well *some* of them anyway)

Fabio,
yep, just replacing every 3rd beat. It's all done by sending
midi from the Gordius LG, looks a bit like this

Record
8beat delay
Record (to end recording)
Repeat From
Replace On
1beat delay
Replace Off
2beat delay
Repeat Till

so the EDP doesn't use it's quantise features in this case,
the power's in the LG which sets all the timing.

Michael
:-) thank you
