Re: Question about multiple looping setup

Having 4 guys with record buttons into 1 instance of Mobius is going to cause havoc (focus and record control issues), isn't it?
While Per's first suggestion of LP2's seemed a bit simplistic, I think it's looking better all the time.
How about giving the percussion guy Mobius and sending sync from there to 3 LP2's. Then practice practice practice.
As everybody gets addicted (and more greedy), they might all move to separate synced Mobius setups.

with the automated approach, you can even rehearse, time after time, and if there's enough skills and the pieces are not too difficult, you wouldn't need the click track, some initial indications could do the t(r)ick.

Thanks for the very thoughtful replies - I'm going to see what Mobius has to offer, then, and go from there - one more question for you guys though - we have a vocal percussionist who is the one who seems to set the stage for all of our songs rhythmically... would the setup you are describing be more feasible if we consider always just using his intial beat as the syncing tempo?
This will reduce the risk of unexpected behaviour by a great deal (you'll be the judge whether that's a plus or not...).

However (again sticking with the Möbius concept), there's basically two ways to do it:
1. One loop is recorded before the next loop starts recording (which, requires the initial loop to be recorded an then play once before you can record the other loops), or
2. The recording of the loops on all tracks that "go first" have to be controlled from one source (which means they have to be the same length).
