That was awesome! Thanks for hinting, Matt. I bought the vinyl live
album Between Nothingness Eternity some time around the early mid
seventies. It was second hand and I had to increase the pickup weight
a lot to have the needle stay in track, but I never cared because the
live audio fidelity was so crappy anyway that a brand new LP wouldn't
sound much better ;-)) But the music on that live album was
fantastic!

I understand Art's point about "mannerism" and think it might have to
do with assuming that John wasn't very original when dressing in
Indian inspired white shirts etc since aping India was kind of "the in
thing" at the time. But, as Michael remarked, John seems to have
always been truly sincere inside all that; the attitude to music
making as a prayer is something I totally agree with. When watching
Johns activities from a distance against the background of "the
general sheep mob" one could easily take him for one of them. I had
similar bugs, back in the days (luckily such narrow perspectives
washed off by time), regarding Carlos Santana when he too showed up
"dressed in that Indian night shirt". I don't mind today though,
although I still think Eric Clapton's white suite looked cooler.
