Re: Piano lessons advice (O.T.)

well said Per.  Conceptually the 'world' has a sound in mind of 'what music is' that most of us on LD don't adhere to so it makes total sense to just approach whatever instrument as if a wide open canvas, as you say as 'the ground you are leaping on'.  The trick is to get the average bear coming to an instrument to relate that way.  I don't teach but have dabbled with in the past and I've often thought about how to 'break the mold' of traditional instruction in our societies.  Luis, 'toss the rules and just do it' as the kids say.

Indeed! Even singers, wind players, guitarists or whatever should
visualize music like the universal code it really is! Not necessarily
thinking about "piano keys", but you should care to know all notes and
their relation with scales and chords just as the ground you are
leaping from. In this regard the  piano comes with a "built-in
shortlist"  ;-)
