Yes, where it's part of the whole and not "here's my looping and now I'm going to play my real instrument, and now some more looping and now .... - on and on.

check out Adreas Stahel <<  YouTube - Andreas Stahel >> and the band "Memorize the Sky" (ambient soundscapy stuff done with "real" instruments similar to the ambient soundscapey stuff done with by "looper")
