Re: OT Re: RIP Steve Jobs... What if he had never been?

I hope, when Bill Gates dies, and he most certainly will, that he'll be memorialized for all the money he's used to make the life a little better for those who struggle.  It is indeed in ways that Steve Jobs did not point his efforts to.  Bill Gates has done some pretty fantastic things and changed the world in similar ways even.  I do hope he gets his due, and before he's unable to enjoy it.  good thing to think about, Jean-Paul, thanks.

I'm curious to know how the world would have reacted if it had been the death of Bill Gates? What differences we'd see in online memorials etc. Apple users have always felt more like they're in a community rather than Windows, which always felt like a default grouping you were associated with. Definitely an interesting study; the comparison of world reactions to either deaths (well, when Bill goes) and how they match company images.

That's the nature of "God".
The ultimate Rorschach ink blot.
The varying tones of our gripes and hallelujahs (interpretations/opinions) about "God" (Steve Jobs, anything - esp the famous) usually reveal more about ourselves, OUR natures, than the matter being discussed.

I think it's an interesting and noteworthy phenomenon, how in many of the places I've visited online today where people were personally making an effort and in their own word memorializing Steve's Jobs' impact on their lives following the announcement of his death . . . and no matter what, there was always one person who pops up there who wants to piss all over the proceedings. That's humanity for you.
