Re: Performing at school Friday, random wave of low confidence has struck again

I've had a slot since about april. I just need to confirm that I'll get transportation to it. Thank you so much for the encouragement also. I like what you said about the music probably just being ambience and honestly, I like that idea and might try and share my music at school more often as background music rather than a performance.

Hey man think you underestimated yourself.  I thought this was great and the way it was shot was kind of spooky and mysterious Kay'lon.  Your music has a cool electronica beat almost noise beat in these pieces and then an overlay kind of Brian Eno texture to it.  The fact that your audience on the ground didn't applause I think means nothing, it was more of an ambience thing that probably got by some and or maybe more capitvated by the mood than you knew.  you really never know how people will react or what their experience was.  Thought it was the cool that you you were up in the rafters doing this.  Good job dude.  I really hope you get to go to Loopfest in Santa Cruz and that Rick Walker will find a slot for you.  You can certainly have mine if he has not already filled as I can't justify coming out this year as much as part of me wants to, I need to wait till next year.

Keep going, Kay'lon.

echoe ... echoe what Sergio said Kay'lon.  Disappointing you did not get applause however I have experienced that with instrumental material, sometimes people don't know what to do with it, meaning absent words which I'm assuming you were instrumental, they don't completely get it.  However point is you rose to the occasion, put yourself out there and showcased your music and that's the best part.  Kudos on all.  Just saw your name on the potential Y2K performance list, hope you are going and going to perform.  I cannot justify making it out this year sadly but will in the future.  Keep following your muse my friend.

That's the point of no return my friend. You jumped in the dark even if with doubts, and you passed :)
From now on, you will be stronger, faster, harder!

There are no bad experiences.

It went OK. Not terrible not great. I had quite a few setbacks such as huge sun glare on my computer so the screen was absolutely useless. Also i think my midi controllers had a few malfunctions because of the heat. Sometimes the faders wouldnt work and sometimes switching instrument patches seemed like it wasnt working instantly like it should have either. Overall It was a good experience. For one, it was my longest looping performance so far (about 12-14 minutes). Students didnt even give an applause after I was done but whatever, I enjoyed it the feeling of being brave and encouraged enough to follow through. I consider this an opportunity I had to share my music as someone mentioned before me, rather than to "put on a performance".

after not playing for awhile, i find that picking up an instrument, the first time, is a whole different experience,

fresh new ideas both compositionally and dexterity wise.....breaks are good.....i know i'm late to the party but

how did the gig go?.....sometimes you got to just jump in and go for it.....and remember, breaks are not good!
