If runaway feedback distortion is going to be a problem then very light 
low ratio compression
in the feedback path will solve. ( not intuitive, but works better than 
limiting )

If runaway feedback distortion is required, then a passive attenuator
before the soundcard is what you want.

As you've been playing and not needing a limiter so far then maybe it's 
not something you need.
