9:00 . URM . Jamie Todd of URM (also of dreamSTATE, NOiNO and
SADU) boots up, saddles up and rides again, with an all new set of
sequences, scapes and general sonic mischief. He'll be including
some of the pieces that URM released via the PiNG LiST in 2014.

10:00 . LES FONTAINES . LES FONTAINES are a Toronto
"éléctro-psyche" synth pop duo. Lorenz Peter (synths, noise,
turntables) has played in numerous duos, including CORPUSSE
and in bass/synth duo PROCESSOR. Heiki Sillaste (synths,
drum machines, effects) has previously made music as cult
elektro industrialists DIGITAL POODLE and electronic maximalists
KINDER ATOM. Les Fontaines love their distorted hand-played
synth leads, over-layed on top of choppy drum box funk rhythms,
arpeggiated bass lines and swirling, walls of phased sound.
Occasional metallic voices float in and out of the mix,
commanding the listener to pay attention. Les Fontaines
create their own singular sound of psychedelic, electronic,
art synth punk funk.

Finally some pure ambience to complete the 2014 series of
free URM MP3s. This time out we give you over 30 minutes of
ambience to balance out the pile of free sequencer driven
pieces from earlier this year. BTW if you missed any of the
earlier MP3s scroll back up to the URM blurb for links.

The sounds for this ambient soundscape first evolved back
in 2012 while preparing for the D installment of the second
dreamSTATE Drone Cycle. The Sandy Triptych is actually 3 pieces
(On The Horizon / Sandy Takes Manhattan / In Its Wake) that are
hinged together and were inspired by the televised images as
hurricane Sandy approached and swept over New York City
and the eastern seaboard of the USA.

Although some of these sounds were used during the D segment
of the drone cycle and may also appear on a future dreamSTATE
piece, they evolved as fully formed pieces that just came out that
evening while watching insane saturated newscasters, waist deep
in encroaching sea water, reporting from the scene as Sandy
swamped boardwalks and city streets.

Warning: Tech talk for all you studio and synth geeks out there.
As usual, each of these pieces began in Bidule with a batch of
VSTs droning: On The Horizon (4 Absynths, 4 UNO LXs, 1 Iris,
3 Shimmers and 3 WizooVerbs), Sandy Takes Manhatten
(4 Absynths, 6 UNO LXs, 1 Iris, 3 Shimmers and 3 WizooVerbs)
and In Its Wake (1 Absynth, 1 Amber, 1 Vaz Modular, 3 UNO LXs,
3 Irises, 3 Shimmers and 3 WizooVerbs.) Recorded in Bidule,
mixed, edited and mastered in Reaper with Ozone and Alloy.

This is the last in a series of URM studio explorations to be
released to the PiNG LiST in 2014. Get them while you can as
they'll disappear next year, but don't worry if you miss them
now as they will later be collected together into an LP which
will also include 5.1 surround sound versions.
