Re: So what music are you listening to now?

It’s relief to know that. I must confess to being somewhat bemused by the threads of mail referring to stuff I simply don’t understand. I tend to plug my guitar into a series of pedals and take it from there.

My latest album is an album of songs - very little looping involved - and is available on iTunes, Amazon, etc (Mechkov, ‘Rough Cuts’), but all of my work can be found on my website (mechkov.co.uk) including two albums ('A Day in the Country’ and ‘Meditation’) comprising 100% loop work.

I started looping alongside my songwriting about seven years ago (with a two-second digital delay) on the album ‘Right to Remain Silent’, but since then I have accumulated a Gigadelay unit, an RC-300 and a GR-55 synth.

Someone recently asked here ‘what do you get out of looping?’ For me it is the improvisational release. The means by which music can take over. Ideas multiply in the most amazing ways and can be presented as they are, or adapted into other ideas. It is a chance to let one’s inner mind out and, as Fripp says, one has to confront what one has played immediately and it is the best way to make a lot of great noise without having to have a band.

Should you have a peek at my work, I’d be most grateful to hear your (uncensored) thoughts.
cheers

Only pedal loopers here. Besides running pure data & patchblocks, but wouldn't dare to use software loopers. Too distracting. Post a link to your latest album, please.

I think this is the first letter stream I’ve actually been able to comment on. Are you all computer based loopers? No pedals out there?

I listen (all the time, always) to Fripp, Eno, Crimson, Bowie specifically. Classic rock generally. My latest album recently.
