Mixing all genres from classical to jazz with general silliness, quasiMODAL fuses electronic and looping technologies as well as 'unusual' noise makers, creating textures, rhythms and soundscapes. .. 10:00 . Erik Laar is known best as an accomplished experimental turntablist/beat maker and Founder of Toronto's Off Centre DJ School. As a well seasoned performer he's toured around Canada/US in various forms accompanying bands and orchestras playing concert halls, museums, and arts spaces. His solo live show incorporates improvised live vocal loops, intricate turntable textures, and drum machine manipulation, a combination that often results in dreamy, celestial and atmospheric moods. The dark and brooding side of his production can also make an appearance, but mostly you can expect downtempo lullabies with clever drum sequencing and throbbing bass driven pulses with fragments of stirring lyrics.
