Hi Rick!!! T Rex Replica is a really great sounding delay. I use it all the time. Some guys buy the delay just for the 'brown' tone switch on it. http://t-rex-effects.com/Default.aspx?ID=2&ProductID=PROD13&VariantID= Fulltone Tape Delay is great but expensive, the mechanics of it are noisy so can't have in room with you unless doing Blue Cheer volumes. But it sounds really fabulous. But I travel with the T Rex. Last I heard Carlos Santana does too. Due to laziness and because it sounds great, I used the Replica on this last record. But it's just an echo - no looping. The Durham Sex Drive has a kind of cool compressor on it. Try before you buy. I like the old Dynacomp for clicky nastiness. Sex Drive a gentler compressor. I'd love to learn what Bill uses. Have a Hip Kitty "Cream" distortion. Pretty good. Recently got a King Of Tone Sunface distortion - expensive, two year waiting list. The little bit I've used it I've liked it pretty much, but you can't get that Husqvarna chain saw tone. Great for blues/bar rock though. I used the Hip Kitty a fair bit on this last record and it actually sounds really cool. http://hipkittyproducts.com/pb/wp_5c0b9e9e/wp_5c0b9e9e.html FOr massive distortion, I miss my old Ibanez Multi Effects Box UE 400. Still have it but pedal broken. Great crunch. Great compressor. Bought it circa 1978 or so. Use an Area 51 Electronics wah. I love it. Mod of a Dunlop 95 I think it is. Cool guy that owns Area 51. http://area51tubeaudiodesigns.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=001&Product_Code=viwkdropin&Category_Code=cat002 When I used to have to do metal guitar for commercials and stuff, I used the Digitech twin tube, which has a convincing Marshall setting that can be tweaked. Probably get a used on REAL cheap - but they're rack mount. I don't use chorus, flanger, pedal vibrato. Use the old Magnatone 213 amps for vibrato! Can't be beat. Now, I was with Paul Smith at this last NAMM, and he has some new amps that sound INCREDIBLE without any stomp boxes. Amazing. One had a wattage control, input gain for bass and treble and then the regular tone pots bass mid treble. It really sounded great I thought. Can't remember the model, but if you want I can find out. I would just buy an amp like this and skip the hassle of pedals. Nice metal crunch but sweet cleans - and you can get the crunch at any level. At least he should check it out. happy motoring richard sales www.glasswing.com www.richardsales.com www.hayleysales.com www.goodnaturefarms.com On Feb 2, 2010, at 10:38 PM, Rick Walker wrote:
