The ultralite is still alive. I think the reason the Ultralite might seem discontinued is because MOTU just released the "Ultralite mk3 hybrid'. You can connect it to the computer by firewire or usb2 now.

I've been looking at what Echo offers now. Lots of positive comments about the AudioFire, and the AudioFire 8 looks to be available in my price range, albeit at the top end. I've always felt good about Echo. Th eTC Konnekt24 gets a look too.

Hal,
I choose the Motu Ultralight because of its portability and the rich
feature set. I have used it for more than a year now with Logic 9 and
Mainstage 2. It's very stable, no hickups. Regarding its sound, really
good I would say considering the concept of the Ultralite.
