SW/HW looper: more likely to get broken/stolen?

Hi folks

I'm curious to know if that's me and what you think about this:
When I bring my looping gear with me to a (semi-)public venue and I can't 
always keep an eye on my stuff, I feel more comfortable with a hardware 
setup rather than leaving my laptop standing there.
I either fear somebody could break the computer (i.e. put a beer glass 
next to it) or it could get stolen easier.

how do you feel about it - your experience?
