. 11.23.10 THE AMBiENT PiNG presents DECRYiNG CENSORSHiP
featuring AMOEBA STARFISH + MICHAEL HOLCER
+ EQO2 + GENERAL CHAOS VISUALS
@ Supermarket . 268 Augusta Ave . Kensington Market .
just south of College . Map, info and directions at:
http://www.supermarkettoronto.com/site/section/contact
Tues. Nov. 23rd . Doors open at 8pm . 1st set at 8:30 . $6
. 8:30 . AMOEBA STARFISH . Featuring one of our favourite
space guitarists Phil Ogison along with laptop percussionist
Jeff Howard, AMOEBA STARFISH combines elements of groove,
chill, space and psychedelia in equal proportions, at times tribal,
at times alien, a combination of the earth and the stars, sure to
intrigue, soothe and excite. Phil and Jeff opened the 2010 PiNG
season when they performed as Phil's The Devil In The Design
project and this band was born as a result, so it seems fitting
that they close out this year's PiNG model.
. 9:30 . EQO2 . BE with EQO2 LiVE for "MOVING THE SPACE" - The
debut music performance by Benjamin Elfassy (multi-percussionist
& synth-groove artist) and Eric Hopper (aka Sylken on keys, synths,
effects) . . . enjoy smooth synth-grooves with live percussion,
morphing atmos, ambient soundscapes, ethnic overtones
and musical motions . . . moving the space.
. 10:30 . MICHAEL HOLCER . For the last PiNG set of 2010 Michael
will perform 5 shorter pieces - a few were prepared for the Ricochet
Dream electronic music festival that Michael played in Europe
recently although for the PiNG he'll be doing less sequence-heavy
versions as is appropriate for the ambient stage. He'll also be
performing a new composition which attempts to balance the
landscapes of ambient worlds with a touch of motion,
rhythm and forward momentum.
. GENERAL CHAOS VISUALS . Wash out your eyes and make
sure that your lenses are clean as General Chaos Visuals'
Stephen Lindsey and Eric Siegerman will be back to
paint the house with light throughout the night.

free download - the latest ping things net label release:
"stratification" by URM
ping things latest release is "stratification" by URM, the latest solo
release from Jamie Todd (also of dreamSTATE, SADU and NOiNO).
On "stratification", Jamie unleashes a sonic suite of sequences and
soundscapes, six songs strung together in a continuous hour long
audio journey. With an influx of new audio toys (lots of new synths,
efx and sequencers) in the URM arsenal, stratification is a tasty mix
of sequencer driven Berlin School electronics combined with haunting
ambient soundscapes, seasoned with that little bit of weirdness
that Jamie has always been so fond of.
"stratification" is available for free download as an 139Mb Zip file
containing the full release in mp3 format along with artwork
suitable for printing. The music on this release is copyright
Jamie Todd 2010 and may not be used or reproduced
without the artist's express permission.

Immersion Station
- an iPhone App by Steve Roach and Eric Freeman
Ambient music pioneer Steve Roach announced the release of
Immersion Station, an iPhone App that allows you to create infinite
ambient music. Using core loops, drones and sounds from the heart
of Steve’s collection, users can sculpt their own never-ending
soundscapes for deep listening, meditation, yoga, working at
the computer, reading and sleeping.
The App was created in collaboration with computer scientist and
software artist Eric Freeman, and offers users an interface in which
to create custom soundscapes. Reflective of Steve’s aesthetic, the
interface is based on a set of spheres, each representing a loop,
that are presented in a pseudo-3D space, allowing the user to
control the mix via simple multitouch gestures. The interface is
intuitive and easy to use for causal users while satisfying for audio
experts and hardcore fans of Steve’s music. The interface also
allows users to incubate new mixes automatically by evolving
the mix over time.
This first release of Immersion Station includes five core loops from
Steve’s soundworlds that comprise thirty-five minutes of source
material. These core loops can be combined into an astronomically
large set of mix combinations.
Recommended for headphones or external speakers.
