I know it's not modern, but have you heard the 70's EH Freq. Analyzer? 
It's 
in a big muff type box, and it has a clear, warm, pleasing tone to my 
ears, 
much nicer than ones I hear in multi-fx units.  Don't know how the reissue 
EH 
compares yet...
Also, it is very basic, no LFO, etc. but I love the tone.
