There are indeed line in as well as mic in jacks...

As I write this, I have the Sony WM-D3 on my desk right next to my
Sharp 702 and am dubbing from older jam cassettes onto minidisc. No
comparison! I'm so tired of searching through piles of cassettes and
speeding backwards and forwards looking for stuff... With the minidisc
you say goodbye to all of that. Track titling is cosmic not to mention
being able to move pieces around, divide them and combine them! The
sound is great and way above cassette audio quality. NO CONTEST. I
also have the mic which came with the WM-D3 and it definitely is
useful for a variety of uses although I usually get much better
results taking a feed from the board. All that said, the WM-D3 IS a
NICE cassette recorder but it's just not in the same league as the
nicer minidisc recorders...
