There have been many good threads on world music in regards to looping, 
with
listening suggestions.  Check the archives for terms like "asian
instruments," "world music," "indian music," "jews harp," "loopable
instruments," "shruti," etc.

Not to say we shouldn't start a new thread, either . . .
