OT? Derek Bailey and Improvisation

This is an interesting coincidence.  I am returning to San Diego and I see
that Derek Bailey is performing there at the Spruce Street Forum in October
(and Terry Riley! the night before?)

So am I to understand that he is a consummate improviser and well worth
going out of your way to experience?  Reckon he must be playing elsewhere 
as
well? (Tour sort of thing?)
Sounds like he is a "free" player (costs $20 tho)--
Wonder if he'll be selling and signing copies of his book 8^}
