Huh.  I've still got the first CD player I ever owned.  I little Panasonic 
boom
box.  Works fine but it's aux input is sketchy.  My second CD player, a JVC
carousel model purchased in 92 also seems to work fine.  I use them quite 
a lot
too.  I wonder if some brands are better than others.
