Re: powered near-field monitors?
Hi Tom,
my recommendation would be smaller Klein + Hummel (www.klein-hummel.de)
speakers like the O98. They usually sell for around 750 Euros/pair on eBay,
and I find them absolutely fantastic. These speakers were design to
broadcast specs (and are commonly used for monitoring classical music) and
if I had the money, IŽd get me a pair of these (much better value than
Genelec 1029a if you ask me but your mileage may vary). If money is no
issue, IŽd go for one of the big K+H cabinets, or for a Meyer Sound HD-1.
Gorgeous!

Subject: OT: powered near-field monitors?
I'm looking for a set of powered near-field monitors to replace my old
Alesis Monitor Ones (I have an old Crown amp but I'd like to get rid
of that, too).
Concerns:
-- reasonable sound
-- price
-- size.
Since my studio is neither sound-proof nor acoustically particularly
fine, I'd be willing to compromise somewhat on perfect sound for
either price or size. But I can certainly spend several hundred
dollars on a pair.
Ideas?
