I
think I figured it out, and a number of the posts here gave me the clues I
needed. First,
I am able to see S/PDIF in my audio properties, since the MBox is selected as
the audio in/out device. Didn’t do much good for this though it did
help to know it was being seen. I
went into ProTools and enabled S/PDIF there by selecting it for the clock (from
another post). I then exited ProTools and the “External Clock”
light stayed set on the MBox. I went into Live, selected S/PDIF, and
voila, I can hear my guitar! So
I guess that problem is effectively solved, all I want to do now is figure out
how to enable/disable S/PDIF in the MBox without having to go through ProTools. Thanks

[mailto:sandy@pajiba.com] I DONT USE SPDIF BUT I
HAVE IT AS ONE OF MY SOUNDCARD INPUTS. THERE IS ALSO A SPDIF VOLUME CONTROL IN
MY VOLUME PROPERTIES THAT I ALWAYS KEEP MUTED BECAUSE OF NOISE IT MAKES WHEN I
DONT ACTUALLY USE IT. YOU MAY CHECK THERE TO SEE THAT IT IS ACTIVE AND NOT
MUTED. HOPE THIS MAY HELP. On 12/28/06, Zoe Keating <cello@zoekeating.com> wrote: Hm, don't know the answer to your specific problem. I
haven't worked with SPDIF. Have you checked the Ableton forums? Been very helpful for
me at least. On Dec 28, 2006, at 1:56 PM, Steve Mark wrote:
Hopefully
an easy question. I
have an effects processor (ToneLab) which connects my guitar to my MBox 2 Pro
via S/PDIF, which connects to my Windows PC via Firewire. I'm trying to
get Live to recognize the signal from the S/PDIF port but am not
succeeding. I am not using ProTools in this scenario, just Live
standalone. It does recognize audio coming from direct audio inputs, just
not from S/PDIF. Has
anyone done this before and succeeded or can someone point me somewhere to get
help? I've searched Google but haven't found an answer. Also,
if this is not the right/preferred way to do things, please let me know, I'm
just coming up to speed on S/PDIF Thanks, Steve |
