Good question. I believe Rick is first awaiting
confirmation of whether Rainer will be able to make it. If so, then maybe Rainer
would be willing to drive this event again. I thought it was a great idea, and
would love to participate this year (I missed out last year because I was too
involved in streaming the main event and recording).
BTW, this year I will not be streaming the main
event to the internet again, nor will I be recording every performance direct
from the mixer board. The time and attention to stream is tremendous, and the
return on investment (1-10 people online listening) doesn't justify the effort.
I notified Rick that I would not being doing this,
so that I can feel more part of the event this year. For the last few years, I
have felt somewhat detached from the event because I've been chained to the
recording/streaming mixer board. I am now looking forward to mingling about and
meeting with many of you, talking about things, etc. I also won't be recording
from the board. Instead, I'll be recording live from the room, with my digital
recorder and two high quality stereo mics. I plan to just turn the recorder on
and record for several hours at time, and then sort out the files after the
event. So, if any of you want high quality, direct from board recordings of your
performance, you may consider recording your own performance. In any
event, I will still make the live room recordings available via the web for
those who grant permission to do so. I think it will be interesting this year to
have a live room mix of the event.
In constrast, if someone is willing to record every
perfoermance from the house mixer board, or even stream to the
internet, and take ownership of either of these tasks, I'm sure Rick would
not object, nor would I.
