Re: OT: favourite premastering effects chain

dear per,

can you describe this first stage a little more?  why do you do all of this?  I thought of just doing a google search on phase invertion, i.e., but i'd much rather hear it from your mouth (cuz you're descrips are thorough... ), that is, if you're willing and have the time.. .

i'd love to learn more about mastering is the point... this would be a good start for me to understand.

thanks man...

A) First I create a stereo file of the mix without any mastering

B) Then I do a certain classic mastering treatment that looks like this:

Stereo Mix clone 1 --> phase inverting
Stereo Mix clone 2 --> stereo swapping
Stereo Mix clone 3 --> mono

Stereo Mix clone 1 + Stereo Mix clone 2 --> merged into Sub mix 1
(carefully balancing levels
The mono signal added to Sub mix 1 (carefully balancing levels)
