You're right about that! But I think that's not because people in  
general tend to not like it - I think it's because many musicians  
just don't know about using that sound. After all, it is a sound  
color that sound good in a context, when blending in with other  
sounds. Some new musicians "work hard on their patches" by listening  
to the patch and tweaking them. What that method leads to is a bunch  
of sounds that each one sounds so full that they kind of equal out  
most musical dynamics when used together. If you are stuck in that  
"Single Super Patch Limbo" you really need someone to show you the  
laws of blending different sound sources - you won't find out just by  
accident. Experienced musicians, music engineers and producers  
develop a kind of "imaginative multi layered hearing" with time that  
lets them hear a single sound as "what it is lacking"; i.e. what  
areas that particular sound will leave open in the mix for some other  
sound to occupy.
