There was a really good article on DD in Mojo a few years back, worth seeking out. I seem to recall a very low glass ceiling there at the Beeb.

I grew up with a television series called Dr Who (the Tom Baker and Peter Davison era, for those of you who know it). The theme song is a pretty cool piece of electronic music and its totally lasted through the decades (written in 1963!). I knew nothing about the musician who "realized" the theme. I knew it was composed in 1963 by Ron Grainer, but apparently it was "realized" by Delia Derbyshire.
There is a clip on youtube showing her looping with tape machines which I though you would appreciate.
Video clip from a BBC doc about Delia:

I can't believe I never heard of her because she was amazing...maybe because she retired from composing in the 70's?
