Just remembered a good example (that I should have mentioned in my
last response) and that is the latest album from David Torn. What
makes it so great IMHO is not only that the musicians play well and
listen well while playing but also that David edited the whole shebang
very creatively after the recording session. The trick to succeed in
such post performance editing is the ability to work with the
emotional content of the music rather than the sonic content.
