I agree with Per in that there will be a huge community of programmers. There are plenty of institutions that teach MAX/MSP as part of their curriculum. So, that's a great point about the possibility of not really needing to buy it. But do you have to own MAX for LIVE to run those patches or is it just to program and/or edit them?

Also, I contacted Cycling '74 and the tech suggested owning both MAX and LIVE plus the extension MAX for LIVE to have an advantage to either using MAX as the main HOST and/or LIVE as the main host. However, some of you have been mentioning that MAX had some issues in a timeline sense. 

Do you think this is a good idea or is Cycling '74 trying to maintain sales? ;-)

Also, MAX for LIVE will also include JITTER according to the tech from Cycling '74.
