Hi:
I've been thinking about replacing my desktop with a new PC to get more memory, a faster CPU, etc. I was leaning towards a desktop as I have at least one PCI card I'd like to continue to use. However, with the continual reduction in price of laptops, I've been thinking more of this direction just for space considerations as well as the portability.
I'm going to stay with the Windows platforms and have been toying with a very reasonable priced Gateway w/2GB memory and an Intel dual core CPU for $650. Heck, I think I have only 1/2 GB memory on my desktop and I've been able to run Reason, Cubase & ACID w no problems (plus others). Even the config mentioned above would be a major improvement for me.
What kinds of Windows-based laptops are folks on this board using? Any words of wisdom on what to look out for?
Also, I've been leaning towards an Intel chip rather than AMD. Any comments on that opinion?
Regards, Paul
