I was in the Ampere club yesterday night too ;-)
I do not mind a keytar. Even in the times of headset microphones for a 
singer a portable keyboard is a good thing - like when she sang hide and 
seek (solovoice quasi a capella with vocoder chords).

If you use a keytar in the guitar heroe pose, then it requires to add 
some irony - Mrs Heap was able to do so (white keytar covered with 
Svarovsky Strass and giving the bad guitar heroe - both artist and 
audience had a good laugh). It reminded me Thomas Dolby with the SH-101 
back in 1985.
