The low pitched voice will have high frequencies in it too,
so the signal you need to isolate is the *low* frequencies.

Put a compressor in front of the reverb, and feed those low
frequencies into the key input. (Maybe that's called
a sidechain input, but "sidechain" isn't the clearest of
terms to use).
