Yes, that's true for fifths in cascading octaves as well as for
ordinary eight stringed in fourths. My idea for tuning in fifths is to
overlap string ranges by tuning 1st (and maybe also 2nd) an octave
lower but still at E and B (C B D A E B) so chord shapes stay the same
as if it was .

I have tried fretless six stringed in fifths on the cello and doing
this is the reason I'm now interested in having it with frets, so I
can bend.

The overlapping by octave shifting the top string(s) takes care of that.
