Re: Windows 7 issues/

Jeff my son is running it on a machine we built from New Egg, Dual Core, 8 gig ram, 64 bit.  We built it as a gaming PC which is his main use.  I think you know this already but mentioning for now the only sound issue that I know about in his experience was that and this is more consumer that you'll probably bypass with more sophisticated audio hw but they have utilized program specific sound schemes and made it less easy at least when I have dealt with it, to get to things like the recording input.  For instance when I was setting up a mic system for him early on it took me a while to find what used to be mixer, properties, recording and select input.  Too though I was new to Win7 and still am as I use XP at work and Mac at home.  Short though at least for gaming he loves it and the 64 bit accessing more memory is a great improvement.  He uses between 3 and 4 of his 8 gig which the 8 are overkill but if he ever gets to video editing it will help.

Any particular reason to update?  I  have Win7 on my work PC and I've had a few oddball issues with the video and sound chip.  But, I'm not doing DAW work, just programming.  I'd check carefully for drivers for your hardware.  Run the MS Win7 update checker app and see what it says.

I really like Win7 for my dev box, but I'm hesitant to put it on my DAW.  Just because that system works just fine.

No problems because I haven't put it on yet. Just in the thinking about it. You had some issues in the beginning didn't you?

I've been much happier with the 64-bit Windows 7 actually.  What kind of problems are you having?

I am thinking of moving to Windows 7 (64 bit?) from my faithful XP. I only use a computer for recording/post production and for Ninjam/Livestream uses. I am not looping with it and this is a desktop machine. Currently a AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core 6400+. 4 gigs ram although XP 32 bit only "sees" 3.25 gigs.

Are there still issues with drivers etc. Anything to worry about? Also anything on 32 bit vs 64 bit?

thanks,

Jeff
