In my experience, the echoplex's "simm tolerance" is actually amazingly good. Much better than most computers that I have used. That is why I suspect your simms. My experience has also taught me that simms may all look very similar, but their quality and performance can be all over the place.... And it may not be that all of them are bad. If they are all installed, only one has to be bad to screw things up.
