Well Laurie, after writing the above I've scraped the piece I was working
on.  I felt I was trying too hard...the music wasn't happening.  The 
problem
seems to be trying to force some sort of form over something that is 
totally
improvished.  It just wasn't working for me.

I'm beginning to feel like a looping poser.
