I'll have to RTFM again now that I'm entering a loop state of mind. For years I used Director-S, the optional sequencer software for the Roland S-550 sampler. In this sequencer, you make patterns and then specify their order in song mode. The method of making patterns seems like it would easily adapt to looping and overdubbing.
