I've replaced loops on my Roland SRE-555 tape echo by cutting a piece of 
tape the length of 
the old loop. Thread it through the pinch roller into the bin, turn the 
thing on to spool the tape in 
and around and splice it. I've never seen inside a 201 but it might work. 
Cheap too.
