It isn't increasing the file size at all it's just referencing the same file with an instruction to the number of multiplies. "Flatten"=That 4 bars is no longer just referencing the original 1 bar. Instead it is now a full 4 bar file-no fancy stuff. 'Finish the cycle for you'=if you stop the record Repeater would continue until the end of a full loop from where you first pressed record.
