at the risk of being politically incorrect on this list, I'd like to throw in Behringer, who built (and still build) a great compressor at a price where other builders of great compressor might sell you a replacement power supply...and who build nice cheap consoles of which people always tell me their mic preamps sound crappy (perhaps I just suffer from bad hearing) and they steal the ideas of other manufacturers (which is true), and who have a lot of other nice goodies in their product line (think FCB1010, Ultra-Q, DSP2024, Vamp)...
