Ah, the wonders of selectably pre- and post-fade aux
sends!

If you're using a suitably-equipped mixing board, you
can send signal to your looping device with the fader
down. Then, when you want to hear the loop, simply
bring up the fader.

You can sometimes surprise yourself as well as the
audience this way!
