Re: speaking of names...

Where I grew up in Dublin someone who was a 'bit of a looper' was someone
who wasn't quite right in the head.
Interchangeable with 'looper' was the word 'beamer', as in 'he's a bit of a
bleedin' beamer that lad'.

( None of them though as good as the country phrase 'There's a bit of a 
want
in him' )
