EDP w/RFX midi buddy

hi,

id like to try connecting my rfx midi buddy to my edp to activate 
directcontrol functions.  i've tried a number of things, including 
suggestions in the ld archives, but it didnt solve my problem of getting 
the 
edp to respond to my rfx controller.

[both devices on same channel, edp on controlsource=36, tried using 
midiout 
*and* share ports of rfx... ]

please, any ideas?
