Latest word on Echoplex ship date ...

I called Gibson the other day and eventually got in touch with a guy who
had
some pretty solid info on the Echoplex situation. The word as of today is
that the Echoplex will ship to dealers by the end of the month. Likely,
sometime after the 24th.

Musicians Friend has a number of them on order and should receive them.
I've
had one on backorder with them since early February so I'm pretty happy
about that.

I also had a pretty good conversation with the Gibson guy who is handling
the Echoplexes. He understands that there is a lot of demand for the
product
and asked my opinions about a number of things. I consider the Echoplex to
be in a class of its own as far as looping hardware goes. That seems to be
the general consensus among those I've discussed it with in the past.
Though, admittedly, I have not tried most of the other looping devices.

We discussed what features I'd like to see in future editions of the
Echoplex. My main issues had to do with the fact that it was mono and that
the footswitch malfunctions after a relatively short amount of time and has
no status lights on it.

The guy I talked to seems very interested in finding ways to improve the
Echoplex in the future. He's going to be away for a few weeks so in the
meantime I'll probably post a request for discussion of what people would
want to improve with the Echoplex Digital Pro. Maybe we can have some input
( no pun intended ) on the future development of this indespensible tool.
